Living Lobster Life

Praise the Lord!

I made it to Maine on Tuesday, September 30th. After a drive a round Kennebunk and seeing the Bush compound in the distance, we had our turn at a half hour lobster cruise

We were graciously welcomed by Captain Bob and Firstmate Kevin on their lobster boat, The Rugosa. The Rugosa is an educational vessel, designed to teach about lobster life.

We learned how to distinguish female lobster from male. We learned their behavior and characteristics. We also learned about life on the water and the lobster industry.

Lobster is caught by means of a lobster pot (what you and I might call a cage). Each lobster boat is designated so many lobster pots. Also, each lobster boat has a distinct buoy which distinguishes its lobster pots from others lying on the ocean floor. Getting a lobster boat license will be difficult if not impossible if your family has not been in the business for generations.

  1. Just read all your post on your trip this week. What an experience! Very good write-up and it would make anyone want to take it. Enjoy God’s beauty in another part of the USA but waiting for you to get back to Sweet Home Alabama.
